NEMBAFest--Day 2

Thanks to Bear Cieri and Clif Bar for the pic!
After a cloudy start, Saturday turned out to be a truly amazing day.

Ralph played camp host and brewed coffee for the crew and after we all scarfed down some breakfast, it was time to hit the trails.

Mike Lawless made the day trip up from MA to join us too, and after a quick shock check at the SRAM/RockShox tent, we were rolling.

We hit many of the favorite trails, Harp, Coronary Bypass, Pastore Point Loop, Coronary, Troll Stroll,  Eager Beaver, Webs, West Branch, Hog Back, Sidewinder, and Old Webs before heading back to camp for lunch.

The trails were in perfect condition, and it's amazing how the network can absorb so many riders without being overly crowded. I've been so many MTB events in the past that are more frustrating than fun, but NEMBAFest continues to be awesome.

After lunch, we went back out for a little action on the other side of Darling Hill including Heaven's Bench, Ridge, Pines, Riverwood, Beat Bog and of course, Kitchel.

After that loop, it was time for some chillaxing around the campsite with frothy beverages and unhealthy food. I also shot some pics around the expo area and the skills area.

One of the things that really impressed me in the skills area and the event overall was the number of families and kids riding. It's so cool to see kids having a blast on everything from BMX bikes to high-end full suspension bikes. It's also awesome to hear some of the loops that the youngsters were doing while racking up some decent mileage. The next generation of riders are going to be amazing.

I didn't take nearly the number of pics that I took last year--I just didn't time it right. By the time I got around to thinking of photography rather than riding, it was late in the day and most of the trails were starting to settle down. Next year I'll be more focused! (that pun was not intended)

Unfortunately, Mike had to head home, but I got to hang with my other friends and brother and his friends and their friends. One of these friends felt the need to share his thoughts on all manner of topics well past 1AM as if people weren't trying to sleep only a few feet away...

The question would be, would we get another ride in on Sunday morning before having to pack up and hit the road?
